Hi! I’m Miki English. I’m a busy southern girl who loves food, books, techie gadgets and good belly laughs (not necessarily in that order!). I’m also a full time student, health advocate, blogger, graphic designer and Saints fan (by marriage). Above all, though, I’m a family girl. I have four great kids, a beautiful grandson, one very understanding husband (hereby referred to as Mr. E), a crazy bulldogge named Lulu and two spoiled rotten goldfish (Gloria and Meathead).
I’ve been away from my creative desk for about 10 years, but am back in full swing with my creative hat on my head and bells on my toes. As a writer, I like to write picture books in rhyme and am working on my first early chapter book. As an illustrator, I work primarily in digital medium, but enjoy acrylic and water color as well. I’m reliable, able to meet deadlines and easy to work with – if I do say so myself.
Projects In the Works:
Mary, the Contrary Mermaid
Gaston Goes to Puckerville
Zombie Zed and the Headless Cowboy (with Tim Thomas)
To get myself back on the creative wagon, I’ve recently finished The Craft and Business of Illustrating Children’s Picture Books with Mira Reisburg at the Children’s Book Acadamey. This is a fantastic course that I highly recommend for beginning kid’s book illustrators.
So, pour yourself a glass of iced tea (or your choice of beverage), relax, and take a look around. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to shoot me an email. If you get a wild hair, stop in and say H! on Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram.
